Whether it’s sleeping all day or jumping off of a skyscraper; if it makes you happy, leaves you content with yourself, go right ahead and do it.
Because too often have I heard friends planning their lives out 10 years in advance based off of what will make them the most money later down the line.
That’s no way to live.
Even if a fortune leaves you with a huge smile on your face, if you’re stuck working at a shitty job that you despise to make that happen, you’re going to be disappointed with how life’s turned out for you.
Time will pass by like the clouds way up in the troposphere. One day, it’ll be bright, beautiful and sunny, but then the storm will come and rain on your parade and you’ll be stuck in that shitty job, where the fact that you hate it there has just dawned on you.
"But I’m making tons of cash," you’ll try to convince yourself.
"But are you happy with your life?"
I suppose it’s contradictory, but the message should be getting clearer.
Don’t try to live up to other’s expectations. You’ll almost never reach them and end up hating yourself for it.
It’s the best way to live life. Every decision in your life should be made with your happiness in mind.
I’ve always tried to live like this, and it’s amazing. I’m sitting here right now while drinking coffee, smoking a cigarette, listening to good music and talking to lovely friends, furiously tapping this stream of consciousness into my keyboard, almost as if it’s a message in a bottle; hoping that someone will read it and it will help them enjoy life just a little bit more.
Do what makes you happy, for the love of god.
